Senior Director of Advancement Overall Purpose:
Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do:
Shares responsibility for ensuring the success of the overall goals for the Advancement Department.
Responsible for all special events, backend processes for development and communication efforts, and board of directors' liaison.
Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:
Your Accountabilities in the Role A.
Project/Event Coordination 40% of the Job 1.
Responsible for the planning, execution, and follow-up of CAPS' key external events 2.
Coordinate board/community member event support 3.
Assist in developing and maintaining strong relationships with volunteers to support advancement and program efforts 4.
Attend agency events and be active in relevant community events and initiatives.
B.
Operational Management 50 % of the Job 1.
Manage back-end advancement processes including Bloomerang, Constant Contact, CAPS' website, and other platforms 2.
Assist in processing and stewarding all incoming donations 3.
Assist in the creation, coordination, and implementation of strategies for communication, development, volunteering, and other advancement efforts 4.
Assist in the creation of external communication and solicitation materials including event invitations, appeals, newsletters, and other mediums 5.
Support external outreach efforts by coordinating internal systems, with the potential of supervising 1-2 staff members C.
Administrative Support to Board 10 % of the Job 1.
Support CEO in drafting and maintaining board communications and documentation.

Provides administrative support to CEO for board committees and task forces as needed, including working with relevant consultants and staff members.
3.
Supports board meetings in agenda preparation, meeting space preparation & minutes.
4.
Manages communication with the board as requested by the CEO/Board Chair.

Position Requirements:
A.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field; Masters degree preferred.
B.
Experience:
Previous professional experience in communications/marketing, event/operations management, and/or event planning.
Previous management experience preferred.
C.
Functional Skills:
Excellent skills in process and procedure development, organization and problem solving; great with priorities and multi-tasking; highly organized with strong attention to details and solid follow-through to get things done well.
D.
Technology Aptitude/Skills:
Demonstrated ability with technology and systems; proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; previous with CRM databases preferred.
E.
Language Skills:
Excellent written and verbal skills; able to present to individuals and groups.
F.
Leadership/Behaviors:
