The ideal person will assist with all aspects regarding worker's compensation such as assisting patients, employers, worker's compensation carriers with questions.
Obtains authorization for patients to be seen under worker's compensation.
Works closely with all parties involved to make sure everyone's needs are being met appropriately.
Prior workers compensation experience is preferred and medical office experience is required.
Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1.
Knowledge and understanding of OSMC's policies and procedures, including HIPAA privacy compliance.
2.
Knowledge of clerical procedures.
3.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures and make changes accurately.
4.
Knowledge of computer programs, applications and office equipment.
5.
Skill in gathering and reporting information.
6.
Must be highly organized with strong time management skills.
7.
Strong work ethic, reliable, good sense of judgment with positive attitude.
8.
Ability to work independently and as a team member and organize/prioritize tasks effectively.
9.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
10.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Essential Job Functions (This list may not include all of the duties assigned) 1.
Assists patients with inquires regarding worker compensation insurance benefits.
Assists telephone callers and responds to requests and questions promptly.
Resolves problems and follows through on all inquiries.
2.
Ensures worker's compensation progress reports are completed.
Faxes/mails progress reports to employers/worker's compensation carriers in a timely manner.
3.
Interacts with physician and/or nurses with concerns regarding information on the forms.
4.
Completes correspondence as necessary.
5.
Contacts employer or compensation carriers prior to patient's first visit to verify worker's compensation eligibility and obtain authorization for patient to be seen under worker's compensation.
Maintains authorization record in the patient's chart.
6.
Develops a rapport and acts as a liaison between the patient, employer, worker's compensation carrier, rehabilitation nurse and physician to ensure needs are being met appropriately.
7.
Contacts employers and/or compensation carriers regarding scheduled surgeries, tests or other procedures and obtains authorization.
Informs appropriate parties of authorization.
8.
Obtains return-to-work information and availability of restricted work and relays this information to the doctor.
9.
Assists and coordinates various marketing endeavors such as site visits, seminars, exhibits and marketing materials.
10.
Continually monitors OSMC worker's compensation procedures to ensure we are meeting the needs of the patients, employers and worker's compensation carriers.
Provides solutions to resolve unsatisfactory service.
11.
Attends meetings as required.
12.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
13.
Performs related work as required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
