Summary:
The Patient Financial Services Representative is responsible for communicating with patients regarding charges, outstanding balances and Heart City Health Center policies and procedures related to securing payment for services rendered.
Functions:
Verifies and documents sliding fee scale eligibility Educates patients regarding financial responsibility Provides detail of all collection processes and adjustments for submission to billing manager, CFO and Board of Directors Processes Medicaid applications Processes bankruptcy account write offs and deceased patient write offs Makes payment arrangements on remaining patient balances Sends out monthly statements Submits quarterly small balance write offs to billing manager for approval and board submission Processes patient terminations for financial (non payments) Responsible for employee and board member's patient accounts (a.

sensitive charts) Combines duplicate accounts and applies funds on account Researches accounts and requests patient refunds as necessary.
Documenting patient refunds in EMR and prepares paper work for Billing manager to approve refunds Actively participates in departmental meetings Submits monthly reports to billing manager and CFO, including but not limited to:
receivables (A/R) Complete successful training and certification as a Marketplace Enrollment Assistant Educates and assists anyone needing to complete an application for the Health Insurance Marketplaces Train new staff in all aspects of PFS Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in patient financial services or related field.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
