0 Elkhart, IN Elkhart, IN Full-time Full-time $70,000 - $90,000 a year $70,000 - $90,000 a year Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a new Quality Lab Supervisor for our Elkhart manufacturing facility.
This is a fully onsite position.
SUMMARY The Quality Lab Manager is responsible to manage the Quality functions and test lab at SHIELD in Elkhart, IN, supporting and working with all other areas of the company, including USA and China for Specialty vehicle, on road, off road, and child restraint products.
Approximately 5 team members, including QC Technicians and Inspectors, report to the Lab Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
To manage SHIELD Elkhart testing and quality, including maintaining ISO 9001& IATF 16949 compliance, and ISO 14001 compliance 2.
Serve as the technical interface between customers and SHIELD Project Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Program Management; develop and execute, DV, PV and engineering evaluation testing for SHIELD products 3.
Manage / Lead quality technicians to support production testing, incoming material, and LAT testing meeting regulatory requirements 4.
Manage and lead training efforts, and certification of quality technicians competence levels 5.
Lead metrology & CMM dimensional evaluations of SHIELD manufactured and purchased components 6.
Aid other quality functions with MSA (R&R) studies, and likely SPC tracking 7.
Be knowledgeable of both customer and regulatory requirements; develop test plans, conduct testing, analyze test results, and compile test reports as required to meet regulatory and customer requirements 8.
Manage projects per SHIELD QMS procedures and the Product Develop Process (PDP) 9.
Maintain excellent records of the engineering design and development process, including customer communication, drawings, testing, and analysis 10.
Maintain monthly KPI reports KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Technical Bachelor's Degree, Engineering discipline preferred Minimum 5 years' experience within the passenger safety/seating industry preferred Experience and knowledge working with safety restraint certifications, including FMVSS 209, SAE J386 and J2292, ISO 6683, and ECE R16 Be thoroughly knowledgeable of the competitive landscape within the Specialty Vehicles Restraints Market, including in-depth understanding of both customers' and competitors' product lines, performance, and pricing, as well as buying and production cycles Working knowledge of ROHS, REACH, IMDS, Conflict Minerals, and Prop 65 compliance.
Knowledge of recognized Engineering systems and techniques, including as a minimum:
AIAG APQP, PPAP, Process Flow Chart, PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC and Problem Solving/ Root Cause Analysis methods (example, '5-Why' and '8D') Lean Manufacturing experience and familiarity with Kaizen tools, 5S, etc Strong experience with MS Office, industrial ERP systems, Solid works, etc Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory role PCDIMAS V17 and Hexagon CMM programming Proven Engineering capabilities and technical expertise Must have strong leadership and motivational skills Be able to work with minimal supervision Excellent written and verbal communications Must be able to travel as needed, up to 10%, to support customer meetings and validation testing at 3rd party laboratories Job Type:
